FollowFalv's Patron Saint
St. Raymond Peñafort (1180-1275), a Spanish Dominican of noble descent who, in the late 13th century, made the first major lasting synthesis of canon law. Despite his acumen and high repute as a teacher, St. Raymond chose to enter the Dominican order to pursue humility and prayer. His feast day is January 7 and he is the patron saint of canon lawyers. While I am no canon lawyer, I do appreciate his patronage as I follow their bread crumbs.
The title of this blog, FollowFalv, means I am following (as in observing, from a totally amateur position) bits and pieces of canon law as it comes and goes in my life. (In Chinese Pinyin, "falv" is sometimes how you type 法律 fâlùu [law], so this blog's title is pronounced "follow falü". It almost rhymes -- cute, huh?).
Ich habe mich auch entschlossen, diesen Blog als Übungsplatz für mein verrostetes Deutsch einzusetzen. Ich werde deshalb manchmal auf Englisch über das Kirchengesetz schreiben, und manchmal auf Deutsch über allerlei Themen schreiben. Normalerweise werde ich aller Wahrscheinlichketi nach nur deutsche Zitaten und Aphorismen vorstellen, die auf Geschichte, Gesetz, Gesellschaft, und ähnliches Geistiges richten.

Romans 12:8 really captures your point, Mark. "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law."
Speaking of debts, you still owe me a visit to a Focolare meeting and I still owe you my presence there. ;)
